in field pattern of antena array we mesure the HPBW at 3db why?

is can measure at 4db or 2.5 db?

why choose the 3 db?

Hi there, this is traditionally done to establish a readily understandable figure of merit for antenna radiation patterns. Other thresholds could be employed, as you mention.

10 dB is used in some cases to identify the angular sector where the great majority of power is directed. Again, someone could use 11 dB or null-to-null angles... hope this helps.
