To Whom It May Concern, Hello ! I would like to check with you,Why LNB need to be difference power 13 Volt for Vertical signal polarization and 18 Volt for Horizontal signal polarization ? Why satellite signal Uplink and Downlink we need to polarization the signal (Vertical and Horizontal) ?.We already know the frequency for the Uplink and Downlink is difference. For TVRO normally how much is the bits for the channel needs ? I hope you can answer my question. Hope to hear from you soon.Thank you for the kind assistance. Best Of Regards Izzrul

Hi,
there is a simple and practical reason for this: The DC provided to the LNB from the IDU (in-door unit). now, lets say your system is pointing a satellite which has both vertical and horizontal polarized transponders, and tou would like to receive tv station transmitted on both types of transponders.
Altering the LNB polarity by changing the DC voltage from the IDU is very simple and practical way to do so; lets say you have one signal on H polarity and another one using V polarity, you can configure your TC receiver to transmit 18v on the first (so the LNB will be set to H) and 13v on the second (so LNB will be rotated by 90deg to V polarity).

But,I feel the explaination still not good enough.
My question, why this standard has been choosen 13 Volt - Vertical & 18 Volt - Horizontal ? Is it this standard develop by NASA because during the time only NASA and TV Station get to use the satellite as part of their telecommunication back bone or link.
Hope to hear you soon.Thank you for the kind assistance.
